ABOUT US

Hayles Fruit Farm is an enchanting family-owned business nestled on the picturesque outskirts of the idyllic Cotswold market town of Winchcombe, in the heart of Gloucestershire.

In 1880, the visionary Lord Sudeley planted the seeds of Hayles Fruit Farm, leaving a remarkable legacy that has stood the test of time. While the name may evoke a connection to the neighboring Castle, it is worth noting that this association is purely coincidental.

In addition to Hayles Fruit Farm, Lord Sudeley's passion for horticulture led him to establish four more fruitful havens on the outskirts of Winchcombe. Sadly, the passage of time has seen these cherished orchards disappear, leaving Hayles Fruit Farm as a cherished survivor of Lord Sudeley's remarkable vision.

Rooted in its fruitful history, the land of Hayles Fruit Farm was initially adorned with apple trees and abundant cob nuts. Remarkably, even after a century has passed, a glimpse of the past endures through the presence of the original cob nuts and a majestic Bramley tree that still graces the land. These living treasures can be marvelled at along the scenic Nature Trail, offering a tangible connection to the farm's origins.

Fast forward to the present day, and Hayles Fruit Farm thrives as a commercial enterprise.

The Harrell family, dedicated custodians of this fruitful haven since 1950, continue to nurture and cultivate a sprawling expanse of 134 acres, rich with an assortment of tantalising fruits. Their unwavering commitment to the farm ensures the legacy of Hayles Fruit Farm lives on, bringing forth the bounties of nature for all to enjoy.

Given the challenges and uncertainties associated with growing English fruit, the farm wisely embraced diversification as a means to ensure viability and long-term prosperity. This diversification strategy aimed to cultivate additional revenue streams, reducing dependence on a single product line.

By exploring innovative ventures and expanding their offerings beyond fruits, Hayles Fruit Farm has fortified its resilience against the fluctuating dynamics of the industry.
